PEMF and Nitric Oxide + Circulatory Function

Study: Kim CH, et al. The impact of pulsed electromagnetic field therapy on blood pressure and circulating nitric oxide levels: a double blind, randomized study in subjects with metabolic syndrome. Blood Pressure. 2020.

This study was a human, double-blind randomized study, rather than simply cell-culture research. After 12 weeks, the PEMF group demonstrated an increase in circulating nitric oxide (p=.04), whereas the sham group did not. The researchers concluded that PEMF may increase plasma nitric oxide availability and influence blood-pressure regulation, although effects were more pronounced in participants with hypertension.

Nitric oxide is particularly interesting because it plays an important role in vascular tone, endothelial function and blood flow.

Summary: PEMF Supports Nitric Oxide & Vascular Function
Human research suggests PEMF may increase nitric oxide availability—an important signaling molecule involved in vascular function and circulation.
